Beatenberg's Matthew Field renews publishing deal with Sony/ATV

Beatenberg composer Matthew Field has renewed his publishing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The announcement comes on the eve of the band releasing its sophomore album, 12 Views of Beatenberg. The deal builds on a relationship that began in 2014.

“Every now and again a special songwriter comes along that changes the way you listen to and appreciate music. Matt is one of those songwriters. He has already written songs that will live on and be considered amongst the best songs to have ever come out of South Africa. We are thrilled to continue this journey with Matt as he takes his music to all four corners of the globe," says Guy Henderson, president international, Sony ATV Music Publishing.

    Expanding Field's international reach

Says Rowlin Naicker, MD of Sony/ATV Music Publishing: “It is great to extend our relationship with a composer and musician of Matthew Field’s calibre. The renewal of our agreement gives us an opportunity to further expand his reach internationally and also carries the story of South Africa’s creative excellence to the world.”

During the course of his studies, Field received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. Having an interest in both jazz and classical music, he always returned to the form of the popular song.

“I am honoured to continue as a writer at Sony/ATV and grateful for the support from Rowlin and the team. There is so much I want to achieve and I am looking forward to what we can do together in the coming years," said Field.

12 Views of Beatenberg is the band’s introductory release on the back of their recording deal with Island Records UK and will be available on all digital platforms on Friday, 14 December.
